County Council created this Board March 24, 1982, Ordinance No. 246. Amended Ordinance No. 485 and Revamped - Ordinance #498, October 14, 1992
 
Members: 15 Resident electors of Spartanburg County appointed by County Council. Consists of one representative from each county single member election district who shall be a resident of the district, 8 at-large members. One at-large member shall be appointed by the Chairman of County Council. Of the 15, the following will be represented: Dept. of Social Services, Medical Society Auxiliary, Bar Association, Law Enforcement, The Aged, The SAFE Homes Network, Rape Crisis, and Mental Health.
   
Terms: 4 years. Initially, the Six District Members and 2 At-Large Members will serve four year terms. Seven At-Large Members will serve two year terms.
   
Purpose: “It is the purpose of the Spartanburg County Board on Domestic Violence to coordinate the planning, development and improvement of systems and services for victims and perpetrators of domestic violence; to promote domestic violence prevention activities; to support efforts to strengthen the family unit; and to raise the level of public and professional awareness of domestic violence”.
   
Meetings: 1st Thursday , bimonthly, 4:00 p.m. – Conference Room 6
