Spartanburg County Council held a work session on Monday, April 17, 2000, at 1:00 o’clock p.m. in Conference Room Two, County Administrative Office Building. The following were present: Honorable Karen Floyd, Chairman; Honorables Johnnye Code Stewart, Rock Adams, Frank Nutt, David Britt, Jeff Horton and Ken Huckaby, Council Members; along with Jim Hartmann, County Administrator; Bill Dennis, Deputy County Administrator; Glenn Breed, Assistant County Administrator.

Chairman Floyd called the meeting to order.

Ms. Floyd updated the group regarding the United Way Campaign Kickoff and related activities. An all-employee picnic is scheduled for April 28, 2000. Entertainment will be provided by a group of department heads. Council members will serve food and other elected officials will wait on tables.

Mr. Ben Harrison was present on behalf of the Bar Association. Mr. Harrison stated that the Bar is raising money to erect a plaque honoring Supreme Court Justice E.C. Burnett, III. The Bar Association would also like to hang a portrait of Judge Burnett in the future. Motion by Mr. Britt to permit the Bar Association to hang a plaque and a portrait honoring Supreme Court Justice Burnett in the Spartanburg County Judicial Center. Motion seconded by Mr. Adams and carried.
