In compliance with the Freedom of Information Act, notice of this meeting was provided in advance to the local news media and other interested parties.

1. Chairman Floyd called the meeting to order. Due to the fact that there was a large gathering of Spartanburg Regional Medical Center employees, Ms. Floyd explained the reason for today’s meeting. She stated that the first item, which would be discussed in executive session, was regarding a personnel matter within the County. The second item would involve discussion of recent events involving the Spartanburg Regional Medical Center Health Services District Board and the replacement of Mr. Joe Oddis as Administrator. Council will discuss the legal aspects of recent events. Ms. Floyd then informed those present that recent rumors indicating that the hospital would be sold were not true. She also stated that the rumor indicating that this meeting was called to remove certain employees from the hospital were not true. Ms. Floyd specifically stated that this meeting was not called to terminate the employment of Charles Townsend. The employees in attendance asked for a forum with County Council to give the employees an opportunity to air their concerns. After much discussion, Chairman Floyd invited the employees to County Council Chambers on Friday, May 05, 2000, at 2:00 o’clock p.m.
