Public Safety and Judiciary Committee

The Public Safety and Judiciary Committee of Spartanburg County Council met on Monday, June 19, 2000, in Conference Room Two of the County Administrative Office Building. The following were in attendance: Honorable Rock Adams, Chairman; Honorables Ken Huckaby and Frank Nutt, Committee members; along with the Honorables Karen Floyd, Johnnye Code Stewart, and Jeff Horton, Council Members. Also in attendance were Mr. James K. Hartmann, County Administrator; Mr. Bill Dennis, Deputy County Administrator; Mr. Glenn Breed Assistant County Administrator; and Mr. Edwin Haskell, Assistant County Attorney.

In compliance with the Freedom of Information Act, notice of this meeting was provided in advance to local news media and other interested parties.

    1. Information was received in reference to an Application for Permit for Special Public Event Exclusion from the Noise Ordinance for the Greer Dragway for July 15, 2000, beginning at 2:00 p.m. and ending at 11:00 p.m., relative to muffler requirements for eight cars. Mr. Mike Greer was present. No one appeared in opposition. Motion by Mr. Huckaby to recommend to full Council approval of the application. Motion seconded by Mr. Nutt and carried.
    2. Information was received regarding activities of the Building Codes Department.
