Public Health and Human Services Committee

The Public Health and Human Services Committee of Spartanburg County Council met on Monday, April 16, 2001 in Conference Room Two of the County Administrative Office Building. In compliance with the Freedom of Information Act, notice of this meeting was provided in advance to the local news media and other interested parties. The following were in attendance: Honorables Johnnye Code Stewart, Chairman and Jeff Horton, Committee Members; along with Karen Floyd, David Britt; Rock Adams and Frank Nutt; Council members. Also attending were James K. Hartmann, County Administrator; Bill Dennis, Deputy County Administrator; Glenn Breed, Assistant County Administrator; Chris Story, Assistant County Administrator and Roy McBee Smith, County Attorney.

    1. Chairman Stewart called the meeting to order.

    1. Ms. Elena Rush appeared to give information in reference to FY 2001 Annual Action Plan-CDBG Projected Use of Funds. This starts our fourth year as a Block Grant Entitlement. An Executive Summary of Annual Action Plan is in backup. This year we had approximately 12.5 million dollars worth of requests. Our budget from HUD is only 1.5 million dollars. All projects were rated and ranked according to eligibility and whether or not they were ready to move forward. On March 20, Community Development Advisory Committee met and unanimously approved this plan. If approved by Council, the next step will be for it to go to HUD by May 15, 2001. Motion made by Mr. Horton to approve FY 2001 Annual Action Plan-CDBG Projected Use of Funds. Motion seconded by Ms. Stewart and carried.
