Engineering

Mission Statement:
Direct and administer the daily activities of Storm Water Management and Sediment Control Regulations for subdivision and commercial development, including plan review, inspections and enforcement; perform plan review and construction inspection of new subdivision roads; provide engineering and surveying services on various public works projects. Project Management and Administration assignments include all State and county "C" (road improvements) fund projects and economic development projects.

Annual Budget:
Annual operating budget for the Engineering department.

Goals:
  • Monitor and inspect projects for compliance with the County's Subdivision and Storm Water and Sediment Control Regulations.
  • Continue development of a countywide pavement management system to include both county and state secondary roadways, entailing approximately 3,200 miles.
  • Increase productivity and efficiency in administration of county "C" Fund and economic development projects throughout the county.
  • Prepare the county for implementation of the NPDES Phase II storm water requirements.
  • Assist in improving the County Floodplain Management Program.
  • Increase employee training involving storm water issues.
  • Improve the design and right-of-way process for new projects utilizing the on-call consultant.
  • Improve the project management of construction projects thereby reducing the time from approval to completion.
