SPARTANBURG COUNTY MAN RECEIVES 25-YEAR PRISON SENTENCE FOR CRACK COCAINE CONVICTION
A Spartanburg County man received a 25-year prison sentence today for carrying nearly 13 grams of crack cocaine.
Christopher L. Burke, 24, of 107 Tucker St., was found guilty of trafficking crack cocaine at the conclusion of a two-day jury trial.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested Burke on March 17, 2005 when they executed a search warrant at 108 Raymond Drive. Burke ran out the back door of the home when deputies approached. Burke dropped a baggie containing the crack cocaine during his flight from deputies. He also had rolls of cash in each pocket.
Inside the home, deputies found more crack cocaine and a sophisticated surveillance system that monitored anyone who came close to the dwelling. Scales, baggies and Pyrex cookware were also found during the search.
Burke and four other people were arrested during the police search.
Burke will serve 85 percent of the prison sentence before he is eligible for release, according to Assistant Solicitor Melissa Millican.
