DRUG BUST LEADS TO 10-YEAR PRISON SENTENCE FOR INMAN MAN

An Inman man received a 10-year prison sentence today after a jury decided that he sold 10 rocks of crack cocaine to undercover police officer and a confidential informant.

The jury convicted Jody Jackson, 24, of 119 Jersey Road, of distribution of crack cocaine. Circuit Judge Derham Cole issued the sentence at the conclusion of a two-day trial.

Two drug buys were made within a 30-minute time period on Nov. 11, 2002 at Jackson’s home. The undercover agents purchased about .7 grams of crack cocaine.

Spartanburg County sheriff’s deputies recorded the exchange on audio and video tape.

After the purchase, the informants met a deputy at a nearby location and identified Jackson as the person who sold them the crack cocaine in a police photo line-up.

“Mr. Jackson was nabbed in a web of solid police work,” Assistant Solicitor Susan Porter said.
