CHESNEE MAN RECEIVES 25-YEAR PRISON SENTENCE FOR SEX ASSAULT CONVICTIONS ON A CHILD

A Chesnee man is serving a 25-year prison sentence for the sexual molestation of a friend’s child over a 5-year period.

Alan Rose, 52, was found guilty of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and lewd act on a minor Thursday night at the conclusion of a two-day jury trial.

The assaults occurred between June 1994 and 1999. The victim reported the crime in 2003 after a disclosing the events to her teacher. The victim, who was 15, at the time of the report, described the assaults in detail for a sheriff’s detective and the Children’s Advocacy Center. The assaults occurred at Rose’s home.

During an interview with sheriff’s deputies, Rose acknowledged his behavior. He said some of it was an accident.

The victim, Rose and two experts from the Children’s Advocacy Center testified during the trial.

“Alan Rose took advantage of a little girl’s trust and he is paying a well-deserved price for it,” Assistant Solicitor Kim Leskanic said. Leskanic partnered with Assistant Solicitor Tony Leibert to prosecute.

Rose will serve 85 percent of the prison sentence before he is eligible for release. He will also have to register as a sex offender.
