BOILING SPRINGS MAN SENTENCED TO 30 YEARS FOR DRIVE-BY KILLING

A Boiling Springs man received a 30-year prison sentence today for his involvement in a fatal drive-by shooting on Spartanburg’s west side.

Panid Jimmy Choeurn, 19, pleaded guilty to murder. The defendant is one of three people charged with the Oct. 12, 2006 shooting death of Cleve Jeter, 24, of Spartanburg. Jeter sustained a fatal gunshot wound to his chest during a drive-by shooting at a Hunter Philson Drive home.

Chan Soheap Bun, 24, the driver of the vehicle, received a 30-year prison sentence after he was found guilty of murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill in a December 2007 jury trial. A passenger, Sok Bun, 19, received a life prison sentence in October 2007 after he pleaded guilty to murder. Sok Bun fired the fatal bullet.

Choeurn, Chan Bun and Sok Bun will serve every day of their prison sentences. They are not eligible for parole.

“This case is a good example of the hand of one, hand of all theory,” Assistant Solicitor Ryan McCarty said.
