MOORE MAN RECEIVES 40-YEAR PRISON SENTENCE FOR MURDER CONVICTION A Moore man received a 40-year prison sentence today for shooting a local teen to death. Rodney A. Nash, 31, was found guilty of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of violent crime after a two-day jury trial. He will serve every day of Circuit Judge Thomas Russo’s prison sentence before he is eligible for release. Nash shot Terrell Farr, 19, to death on June 30, 2005 while he sat in a Toyota Camry on Old Farm Road. An eyewitness identified Nash as the shooter and prosecutors used forensic science and surveillance video from a nearby convenience store to prove that Nash was guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The defendant’s DNA was found on a cigarette butt at the crime scene. The butt sat near two spent bullet casings. Prosecutors used the convenience store video to refute Nash’s version of what transpired following the shooting. Nash initially told deputies he was no where near the crime scene when the shooting occurred. He claimed he spent the evening at home with his wife and he dropped by the convenience store about the time the shooting to purchase a pack of cigarettes. The tape showed he entered the store’s parking lot from the direction of the crime scene. Investigators drove the route from the crime scene to the store and determined he could have easily come from the shooting. “Rodney Nash demonstrated a complete lack of respect for human life,” Assistant Solicitor Tony Leibert said. “His actions were cold-hearted and calculated.” “I hope today’s verdict creates some much-needed closure for the Farr family,” Leibert added. “Their long wait for justice paid off today.” Leibert partnered with Assistant Solicitor Ryan McCarty to prosecute the case. Nash’s prior criminal record includes convictions for multiple unlawful carrying of a pistol, possession of marijuana and habitual traffic offender |
