Term: 2 Years

7 Members: Six members shall be either fire officers, commissioners of fire departments created by special act of the state general assembly, or fire officers of board members of fire departments providing fire protection services in fire service areas created by county council and shall be appointed by county council from the geographical areas comprising county single member district numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, with each of such areas having a member on the committee.
The remaining one member of the committee shall be appointed at large by the chairman of county council from a fire department.
0-03-04 adopted 04/21/03 to establish criteria for funding eligibility of fire departments and to provide for certain other editorial revisions.
0-08-08 adopted 05/19/08 to revise criteria for funding eligibility of fire departments and for other purposes.
0-09-25 adopted 10/19/09 amending Article IV of the Spartanburg County Code relating to composition of the Spartanburg County Fire Prevention and Protection Advisory Committee.
The initial appointments shall be staggered in that two (2) members shall not be able to serve but one (1) term, two (2) members shall not be able to serve more than two (2) consecutive terms, and three (3) members shall not be able to serve more than three (3) consecutive terms.
