The Spartanburg County Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) is a volunteer board comprised of nine county citizens appointed by Spartanburg County Council. It exists primarily for citizens to seek either a variance from the requirements found in the Unified Land Management Ordinance or the Performance Zoning Ordinance or an appeal of a decision of the Planning Department staff. This Board also hears requests for Special Exceptions under the Performance Zoning Ordinance.
See the links below to print the forms for a variance request appeal, special exception. If you are unsure of the Ordinance that governs your project, refer to the Zoning link to the left. Submit forms to the staff of the Planning and Development Department who will place the case request on the next meeting agenda. Meeting dates and deadlines for submittals can be found on the Board of Zoning Appeals calendar.
