Family Court

A uniform statewide Family Court was established in South Carolina by statute in 1976 and implemented July 1, 1977. All matters involving domestic and family relationships, and those involving minors who are neglected or abused or those under the age of seventeen who are alleged to have violated a state law or municipal ordinance are within the Family Court's jurisdiction. In certain instances, however, juvenile cases may be tried in other courts. Please click the links to the left to find more information on each issue.
