Traffic changes to begin as part of courthouse construction project

traffic_changes

Starting on Friday, October 8th, crews will be putting up signage, informing drivers of the roadwork and detours. Beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 9th, all lanes of Daniel Morgan Avenue, between St. John Street and Magnolia Street, will be closed to traffic as barricades are placed, the road is striped, and new traffic signals are installed. This work is expected to continue until 7:00 p.m. Saturday.

The traffic signals will be placed at the intersections of Daniel Morgan Avenue and Magnolia Street, St. John Street and Magnolia Street, and St. John Street and Church Street.

The two lanes of Daniel Morgan Avenue that are furthest from the courthouse will re-open on Sunday, making the road accessible again and allowing vehicles to travel in both directions. However, the two lanes closest to the courthouse will remain closed for construction purposes.

This closure will be in effect until October of 2023.

Please keep in mind that all of these changes are dependent upon the weather.
