Spartanburg County is in the process of reviewing and approving a redistricting plan, which includes redrawing the lines of council member districts to accommodate for population changes following the 2020 Census.
This process is required by the South Carolina Code of Laws Section 4-9-90. The law requires counties to redistrict within a reasonable time prior to the next general election following the federal decennial census.

Spartanburg County is working to finalize the redistricting process for Council Districts prior to the opening of candidate filing on Monday, March 16, 2022.
On October 18, 2021, County Council adopted a resolution establishing criteria for the development of the 2020 County Council redistricting plan.
