GoUpstate: Michelin plans to bring jobs, distribution center to County

Michelin Distribution Center

By Chris Lavender, Spartanburg Herald Journal

Michelin's plan to build a distribution center and bring up to 350 jobs to Spartanburg County continues to move forward.

"This is one of the most outstanding and exciting developments because the Michelin facility will help us get sewer all the way down through there and serve both sides of (Highway) 101 and will open up residential, industrial and commercial growth which will serve that part of the county," County Councilman David Britt said. "I am excited they are making another investment in Spartanburg County."

"Michelin has been a long-time corporate citizen here with their truck tire operation and production facility at Interstate 26 and Interstate 85," Smith said. "We are always thrilled to have existing companies that continue to grow and add capacity. Michelin is going to pursue this and move forward. We are still in the process of moving the project along."
